IOC PRESIDENT LECTURES BOLT
by Ronnie Nathanielsz

International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge has lectured Jamaica’s Olympic sprint king Usain Bolt who won the 100 and 200 meters gold medals in the process running his competitors into the ground and smashing the previous world records at the Beijing Olympic Games.
It seems Rogge was upset with the manner in which Bolt celebrated his victories, particularly the 200 meters win when he removed his track shoes, played to the huge crowd that celebrated with him and danced to reggae music and pointed to the cameras saying he was No.1.
CNN reported that Rogge told media that Bolt “could have shown a bit more class towards his competitors” although the IOC president admitted that Bolt was still very young and needs to mature.
Rogge was quoted by CNN as saying “its not the way we perceive being a champion.”
The IOC leadership is playing what CNN says is “an interesting line” with Rogge saying its good to celebrate but you can’t rub it in the face of your competitors.
Bolt turned 22 today and after his spectacular 200 meter gold medal run the huge crowd at the “Bird’Nest” stadium gave Bolt a resounding “Happy Birthday.”
