While former Ateneo star Rabeh Al-Hussaini who was released from the national pool by Smart Gilas coach Rajko Toroman shared scoring honors with San Sebastian’s Jimbo Aquino, last year’s NCAA MVP who also scored 12 points in Day 3 of the PBA Rookie Camp at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, it was Fil-Canadian Sean Michael Anthony who impressed.

The 6’4” guard drew the attention of no less than four-time PBA Most Valuable Player Alvin Patrimonio in a game where the Fil-Canadian scored eight points, pulled off four nifty steals and had three rebounds.

Patrimonio, the former Purefoods superstar who watched the Rookie Camp games remarked, “he plays hard, defends really well and is a good shooter.” But whether the B Meg Derby Aces will pick Anthony or even have a chance to in the PBA Annual Draft at the Market, Market on August 29 is not certain.

Al Hussaini, the 6’ 7” center wasn’t exactly dominating. He made just 1 of 4 shots and grabbed three rebounds but was steady from the free throw line, going 10 for 12 as the Red Team moved within a win of sweeping the mini tournament featuring 63 aspirants seeking a chance to play in Asia’s first play-for-pay league.

After a lackluster first appearance Al Hussaini’s teammate Claiford Arao showed more intensity to finish with 11 points and 4 rebounds after Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia expressed disappointment over Arao’s lack of fire in his opening game.
