PBA FUN RUN TO BECOME AN ANNUAL EVENT

While there were several recognized runners, the first PBA Fun Run which was aimed raise funds for children suffering from cancer  was a fun thing which is certain to become an annual affair which would showcase the pro league’s concern for the needy.

PBA chairman Rene Pardo assured the public that “This event is not the last. Expect the PBA to always be of help to the needy” while former chairman and active triathlon athlete, former PBA chairman and team owner of the Alaska Aces Fred Uytengsu who competed in the 10 kilometer run said “I’d like to commend the PBA for a well-organized run.The PBA should make this a yearly thing and we should continue to support causes like children’s hour and the cancer and hematology center of PCMC (Phil. Children’s Medical Center).”

PBA Commissioner Sonny Barrios who sent the runners off at the Mall of Asia thanked all the sponsors and participants in the inaugural PBA Fun Run  and said the pro league “hopes to make it a yearly event and  support  more causes.”

Medals were given to all finishers by Comm. Sonny Barrios, Chairman Rene Pardo, PBA Governor Mr. Robert Non and PBA Operations and Technical Director Rickie Santos.

Among those who participated were PBA Dep. Comm. Atty. Chit Salud, PBA Secretary Atty. Melvin Mendoza, PBA Vice-Chairman Atty. Mamerto Mondragon and PBA Treasurer JB Baylon,Rain or Shine’s Carlo Quevada, Smart Sports Head Pato Gregorio, Team managers Alvin Patrimonio, Samboy Lim and Gerard Francisco, Assistant coaches Rey Evangelista, Biboy Ravanes, Dickie Bachmann and George Ella.

Among the players who took part in the event  were Willie Miller, Asi Taulava, Kerby Raymundo, Sandy Salvacion, Rico Villanueva, Ren Ren Ritualo, Ogie Menor , Willie Wilson, Ronald Tubid and several other PBA stars.
