NBA ASIA CHALLENGE ON AUGUST 27 AT ARANETA COLISEUM/Ronnie Nathanielsz
The NBA Asia Challenge, the biggest NBA event ever to be staged in the Philippines returns for the second consecutive year at the Araneta Coliseum on Friday, Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
This year’s tournament will feature mixed teams comprised of NBA Legends, NBA D-League players, and PBA All-Stars and Legends.
NBA Legends headlining this year’s event include 2006 NBA champion and nine-time NBA All-Star Gary Payton; six-time NBA All-Star Chris Webber; 2002 NBA champion and six-time NBA All-Star Mitch Richmond; and 2000 NBA champion and 1997 NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Glen Rice.
Also in the lineup of the two teams are PBA Legends Atoy “The Fortune Cookie” Co, Allan “Triggerman” Caidic and the “Aerial Voyager” Vergel Meneses. They will suit up for Team Blue along with Asi Taulava, L.A. Tenorio and Arwind Santos.
Team White will be reinforced by four-time MVP Alvin Patrimonio, two-time MVP and the only “Rookie of the Year” to also win the MVP award in the same year, Benjie Paras, Ronnie Magsanoc, Ronald Tubid, Dondon Hontiveros and PBA rookie Rico Maierhofer.
