JACK ASIS LOSES IN PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Filipino featherweight Jack Asis moved up to lightweight to face Australia’s William “Cool Willie” Kickett at the Challenge Stadium in Perth, Western Australia and lost a six round unanimous decision.

The 23 year old Kickett improved to 17-2 with 5 knockouts while the 28 year old Asis fell to 21-15-4 with 10 knockouts. It was the third straight defeat for Asis having lost a six round unanimous decision to Ryan Langham on July 9, 2010 after being knocked out in the 5th round by former world title challenger Terdsak Jandaeng (Kokietgym) of Thailand in a Interim WBC Asian Boxing Council super featherweight title bout on November 13, 2009.

Kickett who was coming off a unanimous forth round decision over Roy Tua Manihurak on May 20, 2010 scored a shut out against Asis with all three judges scoring the fight for the Aussie by a 60-54 margin.

The 21 year old West Australian Kickett has been compared to a young Lionel Rose by the Aussie great Jeff Fenech,s trainer Johnny Lewis. Rose was the world bantamweight champion who won the title from Japan’s Fighting Harada.
