Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez and the WBC Cares program have joined hands along with the “Magia de un Deseo” Foundation to bring some joy into the lives of two sick young boys.
Marquez who is among the possible opponents of “Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao in a November 10 showdown at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas helped the two boys – Brandon and Alexis – enjoy a very special Saturday by granting their wish to meet their idol, Marquez.
The Foundation which is dedicated to helping kids from the ages of 4 to 17 who are sick make their wishes come true, helped put the visit together.
WBC executive secretary Mauricio Sulaiman and WBC Cares program coordinator Christiane Manzur welcomed Marquez who took him to the two special “warriors” according to the WBC.
The boys also received a special gift from Sulaiman who gave them two boxing gloves signed by Julio Cesar Chavez and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
When the kids saw Marquez enter the room their faces lit up with smiles.
Marquez hugged and thanked them for letting him share the morning with them. He said “I am very happy to be with you Alexis and Brandon. You are an inspiration because you fight daily…a fight that I’m sure you’ll win.”
The goal of the “Magia de un Deseo” Foundation is to give the kids a very special day full of joy which helps them in their battles to regain their health.
The WBC reported that between l;aughs, pictures and chats, Alexis and Brandon gained inspiration to keep on fighting.
“Dinamita” Marquez promised to dedicate his next fight to them and promised to return and see them to share his victory.
