WBC SUPER FLYWEIGHT YOUTH CHAMPION REPLACES FLU-STRICKEN PRAMUANSAK

Posted on 24 May 2009

WBC Youth  super
flyweight champion Petch Kokietgym will replace stable-mate and recent
world title challenger Pramuansak Posuwan against Jason Egera in the
big fight card at the Cebu Coliseum on Thursday, May 28.

www.insidesports.ph,
Standard Today and Viva Sports learned that Pramuansak was down with
the flu and his place was taken by Petch whose fight against Egera will
be the first of three bouts featuring Filipinos against worthy Thai
opponents.

“Marvelous”
Marvin Sonsona who is undefeated with 12 wins, 11 by knockout clashes
with former WBC Interim light flyweight champion Wandee Singwancha
(57-10-1, 12 KO’s) for the vacant WBO Oriental title while former WBO
bantamweight champion Ratanachai Sor Vorapin (73-11, 49 KO’s) takes on
WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight champion and No. 7 ranked Ramie
Laput (36-3, 18 KO’s)  in what is expected to be a battle royale.

The
Thai-Philippine fights will be telecast “live” in Thailand and will be
aired on the top-rated weekly boxing show “The Main Event” on CS/9 on
Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. sponsored by Tanduay, the No. 1 Rhum and Pagcor.

The
report from Bangkok indicated that well-known Thai promoter Kokiet
Panichayarom was downplaying his fighters chances citing the formidable
fight records of the Filipino boxers.

Kokiet
was supposed to be most concerned about the young replacement for
Pramuansak Posuwan – Petch Sor Jongcharoen – who has never fought
outside his native Thailand .

Kokiet believes the bout with Egera would be a crucial test of skill for the Youth champion.

The
three Thai boxers and their entourage were expected in Manila on Sunday
with Kokiet and his Thai sponsors arriving on the eve of the fights.

According
to Kokiet the fight card is a joint effort with well-known Filipino
promoter Sammy Gello-ani as part of a joint search for top boxers who
could fight in the US in a possible tie-up with Golden Boy Promotions.
