University of Santo Tomas fought back from a first-set setback and overcame a tough Far Eastern U side as it carved out a hard-earned 17-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-17 victory for its second straight victory and the solo lead in Shakey’s V-League Season 6 at The Arena in San Juan late Tuesday night.

University of Santo Tomas leaned on the come-backing Angeli Tabaquero and veteran Aiza Maizo in a thrilling fourth set duel to beat Adamson, 25-18, 17-25, 25-17, 25-16, yesterday in a big start to its back-to-back title bid in the Shakey’s V-League at The Arena in San Juan on Sunday.

The Shakey’s V-League Season 6 second conference kicks off today (Sunday, Oct. 11) with a promise of another exciting battle for women’s volley supremacy among eight schools that underwent tremendous buildup during the off-season.

University of Santo Tomas turned what was expected to be a close game in a sudden death showdown in their best-of-three championship series into an old-fashioned massacre as they mauled a listless San Sebastian College team in straight sets at The Arena in San Juan on Tuesday.

Univ. of Santo Tomas showed its championship form and got back at San Sebastian 25-21, 25-22, 25-23, to force a winner-take-all match for the crown in the sixth Shakey’s V-League presented by Cherifer before an overflow crowd that included Mayor JV Ejercito at The Arena Sunday.

San Sebastian College coach Roger Gorayeb doesn’t want to take any chances and wants his players to capitalize on the psychological advantage of a three-set sweep in Game 1 against formidable UST and to end the best-of-three series in the sixth Shakey’s V League at The Arena in San Juan on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
