Posted on 09 August 2010

World and 2008 Olympic sprint king Usain Bolt of Jamaica has suffered a stunning defeat in a 100 meter race at the Diamond League meet in Stockholm.

Bolt was beaten by Tyson Gay of the United States who finished first in a time of 9.84 seconds while Bolt came in second with a clocking of 9.97 .

It was Bolt’s first defeat in two years. The Jamaican sprinter who holds the world record of 9.56 seconds conceded “You can get beaten. You have good days and bad days – it was just one of those days for me.”

He said he had to work on his conditioning even as he noted “I got a good start but there was no power there. Tyson was much better than me, in much better shape than me.”

The British newspaper The Sun quoted Gay as saying  the defeat would start to put doubts in Bolt’s mind.

The American said: “I think he knows what his limitations are now. He has more left in the tank but this feels good.”
