UNDER 14 BOY’S TENNIS PLAYER JURENCE MENDOZA DOING WELL IN EUROPE

The Philippines under 14 Boy’s tennis player Jurence Mendoza has done quite well in the 2nd leg of the International Tennis Federation’s Asian Team European tour.
 
The tournament was played at the Tennis Centrum “De Molen” in Leeuwarden, Netherlands on an artifical clay court.
 
In the Boy’s singles Mendoza defeated Alexander
Bublik of Russia in straight sets 7-6, 6-4 in the 1st round of competition.
 
However, he faced the No. 6 seed Shakeel Manji of Britain who is No. 24 in Europe and although Mendoza played well he eventually lost 6-4/6-3.

In the doubles, Jurence Mendoza combined with  Basil Khuma of India and reached as far as the quarter finals.
 
Mendoza and Khuma won their first round match upsetting the 4th seeded Russian pair of  Karen  Khachanov who is ranked  No. 10 in Europe and Dmitry Popko who is ranked No. 10 in three sets,  3-6, 6-3 (10-4).
 
The RP-India combine then won over the British duo of Christopher Eagan Morris and Joshua Paris 1-6/ 6-4/ 10-5.
 
However, in the quarter finals Mendoza and Khuma fell to the 5th seeded Japanese pair of Ken Onishi and Takumi Tsusematsu  in two tie-break cliffhangers 7-6/7-6.
